Attendance and Punctuality

Al Salam Community School expects 100% attendance and punctuality for all pupils to ensure they maximise their learning opportunities. Our aim is to achieve Outstanding attendance (98%) as defined by the KHDA.

Key Expectations for Parents:

Authorised vs. Unauthorised Absence:

The policy clearly defines when an absence is considered authorised (e.g., illness with a medical note, death of a relative) or unauthorised (e.g., unnecessary travel, family holidays, shopping trips). Unauthorised absences are dealt with firmly, and frequent poor attendance may result in being invited to a meeting with the Head of School.

The school reserves the right to apply sanctions, including withholding promotion to the next year group, or potentially permanent exclusion if a pupil is absent for 20 consecutive days or 25 non-consecutive days in an academic year, in accordance with UAE MOE law.
